How to reach the summer school

By plane:

The nearest airport is Brussels Airport (=Zaventem Airport) at only 60km from Ghent.
More info at: http://www.brusselsairport.be/

By train:

By far the easiest and cheapest way to get to Ghent is by train. The train station is located in the basement (level -1) of the airport terminal building itself. A direct ride with the Intercity Train (IC) takes less than an hour. IR trains can take longer (1 hour 20 min) or require you to change at Brussels South (Dutch: Brussel Zuid; French: Bruxelles Midi).

Exact timetables are available at: http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/index.php
From: ZAVENTEM (AIRPORT)
To: GENT ST PIETERS

At the train station 'Gent St Pieters' you can:
  1. Take a taxi to your hotel/dorm room. Taxis are parked just to the right when you leave the train station by the main entrance.
  2. Take the tram:
If you leave the station through the main entrance: turn left and walk to the tram and bus platforms. Just behind the bus platforms is tram platform 2. There you can take tram 1 to the city center (direction Wondelgem or Evergem). Tickets (€ 1.20) can be bought at the vending machines at the tram stop. Get off at Verlorenkost.

By taxi:

By car, it takes at least 45 minutes to reach Ghent, depending on the traffic.
There are taxis parked outside the airport. A ride to Ghent can cost up to € 100.

By rental car:

You can rent a car at the airport and drive to Ghent yourself.
